Somewhere,
someone needs
someone to show up.

With roots in both the United States and Ghana, HH Healing Hearts Inc. is currently serving the Wa Upper West Region and the Savannah Region — with northeastern Pennsylvania programs in Monroe and Carbon Counties on the horizon.

Why we show up

Because no family should face hardship alone.

From care packages in Pennsylvania to maternal health initiatives in Ghana, HH Healing Hearts meets people where they are and responds with practical support, compassion, and dignity.
OUR CONVICTION

Healing is a human right — and nearly all maternal and infant deaths are preventable.

That conviction was born in a hospital ward in Wa, Ghana, where our founder saw mothers and newborns dying from causes that cost almost nothing to prevent.

It drives everything we do today. It is why we deliver care packages instead of just sympathy, why we show up with diapers, food, clothes, medication, and education instead of waiting for someone else to act — and why we measure our success one mother, one child, one family at a time.

Our Story

It didn't begin in a boardroom. It began in a hospital ward.

Our founder, Asther Ahmed S.I, was diagnosed with preeclampsia during her second pregnancy — a condition that kills tens of thousands of women around the world every year. She survived because she was treated in the United States, and she delivered her premature baby without complications.

The only difference between her story and a tragedy was where she happened to be.

In 2013, while visiting a sick family member at Wa Regional Hospital in Ghana’s Upper West Region, Asther witnessed a heartbreaking reality that changed her life forever. Many pregnant women could not afford prenatal care or even basic medical necessities. Mothers and newborns were losing their lives due to lack of access to essential healthcare. Doctors and nurses worked tirelessly — but often without gloves, stethoscopes, oxygen, or other critical supplies.

Seeing these challenges firsthand opened her eyes to the urgent need for support, compassion, and access to basic healthcare for vulnerable mothers and children. That experience planted the seed that grew into HH Healing Hearts Inc.

For years, she funded this work out of her own pocket. Today, HH Healing Hearts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit — and the mission belongs to all of us.

"The only difference between her story and a tragedy was where she happened to be."

What We Do

Every mother.
Every child.
Every family in need.

We serve mothers and families in northern Ghana. Since our founder’s first visit to Wa Regional Hospital, we have provided ongoing outreach and support to vulnerable mothers, families and persons with disabilities.

Program 01

Supporting Mothers

Care packages with diapers, formula, clothing, and essentials for pregnant women and new mothers facing hardship in Monroe and Carbon Counties, Pennsylvania — plus education on maternal wellness, postpartum depression, and infant care.

Program 02

Crisis Family Support

Food, essential goods, and steady hands when a family hits a sudden emergency. We show up with practical help and human connection — because no one should face a crisis alone.

Program 03

Community Outreach

Food drives, school supply campaigns, and seasonal outreach that families can count on. We are a consistent, caring presence in the communities we serve.

Program 04

Ghana: Where It Began

Our long-term goal is to equip the Labor and Childcare Unit at Wa Regional Hospital — the very ward where our story began — with medical supplies, emergency transportation for expectant mothers, and prenatal support groups.

Who We Serve

Every mother. Every child.
Every family in need.

Pregnant Women & Postpartum Mothers

Women navigating pregnancy and the postpartum period without adequate support, resources, or access to safe, consistent healthcare.

Infants & Children

The youngest and most vulnerable — children whose health and futures depend on the stability and wellbeing of their families.

Low-Income & Single-Parent Families

Households carrying the full weight of family life with limited income, thin safety nets, and little margin for unexpected hardship.

Women & Children with Limited Healthcare Access

Those living far from clinics or unable to afford basic medical care — the gap between a complication and a tragedy is often just access.

Families in Crisis

Households hit by sudden emergencies — illness, loss, displacement — who need immediate, compassionate support to stabilize and recover.

Who We Serve

A world where no mother dies from a preventable complication, every child has the opportunity to grow and succeed, and every family can live with dignity and hope.

Building Toward Change

We Support Families in Need

From labor and childbirth to early childhood care, we stand with families during life’s most critical moments.

We Provide Resources and Care

Through medical supplies, emergency transportation, and prenatal support, we help ensure healthier outcomes for mothers and babies.

We Empower Communities

By educating, equipping, and walking alongside families, we build stronger communities where everyone can thrive.
